Because the issue of food security has become pivotal, and countries must race to reach food self-sufficiency, the UAE Cabinet announced the appointment of a Minister of State for Food and Water Security in order to conduct research, develop plans and apply modern technologies in this field. Hence, the UAE takes the lead in thinking about the issue of food security, as it hastened to appoint the first minister of food and water security in the world.

The UAE stressed during a Security Council session that “climate and food security are closely interrelated, and both are essential to maintaining international peace and security. From this standpoint, the UAE looks forward to working with all members of the Council, and with all member states, to ensure that the issue of food security receives the global attention it deserves.”
