The (UAE) has made significant efforts towards mitigating climate change and reducing its carbon footprint. In 2021, the UAE announced its updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 23.5% by 2030, compared to business-as-usual scenarios. The country is also investing heavily in renewable energy, with plans to increase the share of clean energy in its total energy mix to 50% by 2050. The UAE has set up several initiatives to promote the use of renewable energy, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Abu Dhabi Sustainable City project. Additionally, the UAE has invested in carbon capture technologies and aims to capture and store over 5 million tons of carbon dioxide annually by 2030. While the UAE remains a major oil producer, its efforts towards climate action demonstrate its commitment to combatting climate change
