The United Arab Emirates, thanks to the distinguished relations between Russia and Ukraine, has succeeded in achieving remarkable progress in the prisoner issue between the two countries, as the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the release of 195 soldiers of the Russian army from captivity in Ukraine. This is the second time that the UAE has mediated between them. The Russians and Ukrainians to release detainees and conclude exchange deals between them. This is due to the political efforts made by Abu Dhabi in this file, in addition to its good diplomatic relations extending over decades and continuing until now. The Russian Defense said in a statement that “it was completed today, Wednesday 31 January, as a result of a negotiated process, the return of 195 Russian military personnel from the territories controlled by the Kiev regime, where they were facing mortal danger in conditions of captivity. The statement added, "On the other hand,195 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian forces were handed over. The statement stated that the released soldiers will be transported by military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces to Moscow to receive treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense. All those released will also be provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance. The Defense noted Russia noted that the United Arab Emirates provided humanitarian mediation in the process of returning Russian prisoners of war.
