Non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and Ethiopia has grown over the past ten years by more than 180%, to reach 5.113 billion dirhams in 2022. The value of non-oil bilateral trade exceeded 34 billion dirhams between 2013 and 2022. Foreign trade between the two countries was distributed during the year 2022 by 773 million dirhams of Emirati non-oil exports, 2.033 billion dirhams of products that were re-exported from the UAE, and 2.307 billion dirhams of imports from Ethiopia. The list of the most important commodities exported to Ethiopia included mineral oils with a value of 183 million dirhams, raw gold with a value of 58 million dirhams, legumes with a value of 48 million dirhams, prefabricated buildings with a value of 38 million dirhams, and facilities and parts of iron and steel facilities with a value of 28 million dirhams.

As for the list of the top 5 commodities that were re-exported, it was topped by cars with a value of 334 million dirhams, followed by ornaments and jewelry with a value of 225 million dirhams, then medical vaccines with a value of 199 million dirhams, machines for self-treatment and information and their units came fourth in the list with a value of 159 million dirhams, and fifthly communications devices and equipment with a value of 125 million dirhams. With regard to the top 5 commodities imported from Ethiopia last year; Raw gold came at the fore with a value of more than two billion dirhams, then meat with a value of 207 million dirhams, and coffee with a value of 43 million dirhams.
